    I work for the Army at Ft. Meade, MD. In the past year we have opened a charging station (10 charging ports) and I have been instrumental in bringing this to fruition. Personally I own a Nissan Leaf, and for a while I was the only person using the station. Now there are about 6 different vehicles using the station.
    I would like to have a ‘ribbon cutting’ of sorts and I thought Earth Day (April 22) . Have you done anything like this and do you have an suggestions on how to make it successful?

    Glad to hear that there are now charging stations at Fort Meade. Earth Day sounds like a great day for a ribbon-cutting for these stations! I recommend the following:
    – Add the “charging station ribbon cutting ceremony” as a formal event for your organization. An hour or so, perhaps over lunch, often works well. Indicate that the event will include a variety of EVs for display.
    – Hold the event in a very visible place with a lot of foot traffic. It is also good to have the event at the actual charging stations themselves, if possible, but it is better to have the foot traffic.
    – Recruit a variety of EVs for display for the event. Ask their owners to be on hand for the hour, to answer questions from interested people.
    – Have a small table with some literature to hand out, regarding the benefits of EVs. Some literature is available from EVA/DC and from http://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/ev-everywhere-workplace-charging-challenge.

    EVA/DC has supported numerous ribbon-cuttings and Earth Days and may be able to provide assistance. I will be in contact.
