First Bolt EV police car in the US

Rich Hartnett, Sergeant with the Hyattsville Police Department, and EVADC member, was the subject of an article in Chevy New Roads Magazine.   This exciting first-of-a-kind police-trim Chevy Bolt has also been featured in Green Car Reports, Electrek, and Police Magazine.  It’s a great example of an upgrade to a municipal fleet that is cost-saving for taxpayers and better at accomplishing its job.

Rich has also been the main motivation behind Hyattsville getting several L2 and DC fast chargers installed for city residents.  Come out to Hyattsville’s National Drive Electric Week event Sept 8 from 11-4 and get a close-up look at the fist Chevy Bolt police car in the nation.

Nice real-world EV owner review

Here is a review of the Chevy Bolt from a long-term (one year, 15k miles) owner of two.  This is not a product endorsement, merely an example of the savings an EV owner can expect and the factors that arise, like home and public charging, that are part of this exciting new way of driving.

The current state of the Electrify America installations can be found here and the broader Plugshare picture of DC fast charging can be found here (select CCS or Chademo as appropriate).  The Bolts in the article use CCS.

EV Deals

From time to time, EVADC hears about special deals on EV’s and plug-in hybrids, which are above and beyond the Federal and State tax credits.  To keep track of these, we’ve added a link, “EV Deals” to our menu at the top of our page.  If you’re interested in making the numbers work on a new electric beauty, these deals could really help you out.  Take a look!

Petition for Implementation of a Statewide Electric Vehicle Portfolio

The Maryland Public Service Commission is working on an effort entitled “Transforming Marylands Electric Grid” also referred to as PC44.  One part of that overall effort relates to electric vehicles.  Maryland could potentially have the second largest charging network in the nation.  The entire public case file may be found by entering PC44 into the Case Search dialog box and selecting the “Public Conference” button.

The recommendations of the Electric Vehicle Work Group were filed January 19, 2018.  EVADC has reproduced the filing below, in a convenient form, broken down by sections.  You may obtain the complete filing below (“Full Document”), or by searching for maillog number 218613 at http://www.psc.state.md.us/
